How do I know my dog will be a good fit?

New clients must bring their dog to the farm for orientation before making a reservation. Orientations last about a half hour and consist of your dog meeting pack members one at a time to assess compatibility. Your dog will go on a short walk off leash with the pack to assess their recall skills. Dogs with special needs (e.g. anxiety, poor health, food aggression) are very welcome. I have found that being with a pack can be very therapeutic for dogs with special needs. We follow these four criteria when considering a dog for boarding/daycare:

  • Is your dog vaccinated?

  • Is your dog spayed/neutered if he/she is of age?

  • Does your dog do well off leash?

  • Is your dog well socialized with dogs and people? Note: Prior socialization is not required but preferred. If your dog doesn't have prior experience with socialization Loyal Dog Boarding & Daycare is a good place to start.

If you are unsure whether your dog will be a good fit, we encourage you to try an orientation.

What vaccinations does my dog need?

  • Rabies

  • Distemper

  • Leptospirosis

  • Bordetella

  • Flea/Tick preventative

Note: Distemper vaccinations may be given in a combination vaccine DHLPPC (Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza and Coronavirus).

Do you accept puppies?

Absolutely, we love puppies! Dogs are never too young to begin socialization.

How far in advance do I need to make a reservation for overnight boarding?

We recommend at least a months notice during busy periods (summer, spring break & holidays) and at least 2 weeks notice during the off season. If you are a new client, we recommend 6 weeks notice to allow enough time for scheduling an orientation. We can take reservations up to a year in advance.

How does drop off and pickup work?

Drop offs and pickups are by appointment only and we schedule them 7 days a week from 6 am to 10 pm. We ask that you please notify us if you cannot make your appointment for whatever reason. Please be respectful of the fact that this is a private home.

What do I bring when boarding my dog?

  • Food (you do not need to bring bowls)

  • Copy of up to date Rabies certificate

  • Bed/Blanket (optional)

  • Treats (optional)

  • Please no toys. Dogs tend to be possessive over their own toys. We have a basket of community dog toys that they are welcome to play with.

I'm concerned my dog will run away.

Running away is valid concern and we do everything in our power to prevent it from happening. During orientation your dog will go on a short off leash walk with you, me, and the pack to assess recall skills. On the first day of your dog's stay with us, they will start on leash while they assimilate into the pack and get to know the routine. After that they will graduate to pulling a long lead that is not attached to anything. Ultimately, your dog will walk fully off leash.  All dogs must be identifiable by id tag or microchip.  Dogs are pack animals and their natural inclination will be to stay with the pack.

Can I make a special request for my dog to be kept on leash?

No. Leashes can cause tension in a pack of dogs. In addition, dogs that are not leashed can get caught by the leash or run into the leash ("clotheslined") causing injury.

Do you do grooming/training?

No

What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash and check
